I am generally happy if there is a strong storyline that does not focus explicitly on a romance (hell, I prefer it that way), but here I don't think the main couple got more than 60 pages out of a massive 1000. They were never in love, but they both definitely wanted more with each other in their college days, but life took them different ways. Facing bleak holidays with her widowed, golf-obsessed Aunt Louise, the girl is overjoyed and a bit overwhelmed when she's often invited by classmate Loveday Carey-Lewis and her glamorous and wealthy family to spend time at their estate. To say goodbye to the house and the garden, and Amah and Joseph the butler, and the old Tamil who tended the garden. I found it hard to relate to any of the characters on a personal level because they felt somehow distant, like I was hearing their story narrated by a random person who is only semi-interested in them.

This is a cute short of a group old friends reconnecting after 20 years at their alma mater's homecoming. When Aunt Louise dies in an auto accident, Judith finds herself an unexpected heiress with the funds necessary to move easily through the world of the Carey-Lewises and their friends, such as young physician Jeremy Wells. As WWII progresses from a threatening storm into reality, Judith and her family must face many hardships.

It’s been 20 years since they graduated, and the memory of a shared kiss all those years ago still begs the question - what if? There are beautiful paintings on display at Nancherrow, Gus is an artist immortalising the family in his pictures. Judith is a very strong woman who has become strong due to the circumstances of her upbringing, Judith soon realises that her mother is not a strong woman and so she needs to take charge occasionally and help her mother.

With their generosity and kindness, Judith grows from naive girl to confident young woman, basking in the warm affection of a surrogate family whose flame burns brightly.Friends in college, Niomi always felt like the “one who got away” even though they never got together, he crushed on her, she secretly crushed on him, the timing was never right for them to be together, but they shared a moment at the end of college. An affluent but warm and welcoming family, the Carey-Lewis’s will offer their beautiful dwelling on the Cornish coast as another home-away-from-home for Judith.
