My kids and I have been big fans of the Oi books every since the first one, Oi Frog, so I was very pleased to be given an opportunity to review the latest installment, Oi Aardvark. Due to the current state of the world, I read it over Zoom with my three children, who are aged 7-13, and we all really enjoyed it. I then read it with my two nieces, aged 3 and 7, and they loved it too. Clearly this is a book that easily appeals to a wide range of ages!

The mysterious Pleistocene Plesiorycteropus from Madagascar was originally thought to be a tubulidentate that was descended from ancestors that entered the island during the Eocene. However, a number of subtle anatomical differences coupled with recent molecular evidence now lead researchers to believe that Plesiorycteropus is a relative of golden moles and tenrecs that achieved an aardvark-like appearance and ecological niche through convergent evolution. [20] Subspecies In my 68 years, this is the best kids A to Z alphabet book that I have read. Zany rhyme, names and words encourage kids to learn from exploring books. This book is an exciting and fun way that allows kids to enjoy their learning. They will eagerly wait for what begins with the last and often confusing letter, Z. A charismatic frog writes a new alphabet book for animals who have to be told where to sit. In an absurd hilarious rhyming style, frog’s book ‘MY ALL NEW ALPHABETTY BOOTY BOOK’ receives conflicting reactions. An annoying pessimist cat with a fixed frown expression, negatively responds. A friendly, curious and optimistic dog is delighted with each letter entry. Frog intelligently leads everyone with practical solutions. The aardvark is known to be a good swimmer and has been witnessed successfully swimming in strong currents. [31] It can dig a yard of tunnel in about five minutes, [30] but otherwise moves fairly slowly. Shoshani, Jeheskel (2002). "Tubulidentata". In Robertson, Sarah (ed.). Encyclopedia of Life Sciences. Aardvarks pair only during the breeding season; after a gestation period of seven months, [5] one cub weighing around 1.7–1.9 kilograms (3.7–4.2lb) [16] is born during May–July. [6] When born, the young has flaccid ears and many wrinkles. When nursing, it will nurse off each teat in succession. [26] After two weeks, the folds of skin disappear and after three, the ears can be held upright. [26] After 5–6 weeks, body hair starts growing. [26] It is able to leave the burrow to accompany its mother after only two weeks and eats termites at 9weeks, [26] and is weaned between three months [16] and 16weeks. [5] At six months of age, it is able to dig its own burrows, but it will often remain with the mother until the next mating season, [5] and is sexually mature from approximately two years of age. [16] Conservation Oi Aardvark! is another great addition to the series. We haven't read all of the books in the series but really enjoyed this one and the alphabet aspect is a fun way to introduce letters into the story. te Velde, Henk (1997).
