About this deal

The ability to remotely access and control the EV charger is a significant advantage for users, as it provides increased flexibility and convenience. With remote access, users can monitor their charger’s status, start or stop charging sessions, and adjust settings without being physically present at the charger. For instance, the Wallbox Eco-Smart Solar EV Charging system offers a user-friendly app with remote access and control features, making it easier for users to manage their solar-integrated EV charger in real-time.

The EO Mini Pro 2 is available tethered (Type 1 or 2) or untethered. If you’re unfamiliar, a tethered charger has a built-in cable, and an untethered charger has no built-in cable, so you need to plug your own cable into the box and then into your car. So far, it’s been all good with the EO Mini Pro 3 Smart Electric Vehicle Charger, with successful charging sessions that don’t tend to take too long at all with our car’s smaller battery. A few hours for a 20 to 80 percent charge seems pretty good to me at a largely spot-on 7kW charging speed. A blue LED status light comes on when the EO Mini Pro 2 is ready to charge. Red means something is wrong, and green means your vehicle is charging. The LED lights also flash during installation. The EO Mini Pro 2 is a tiny, inconspicuous ‘smart’ home charger available tethered or untethered, charging at speeds up to 7.2kW (single-phase).Concerns over durability due to the size are unwarranted – this charger is a robust piece of kit. The case is made from ABS (UL94 HB Fire Rated), and it has IP54 protection, so it’s protected from water spray in any direction.

As the electric vehicle market grows and changes there are likely to be rapid changes in EV home chargers and electric vehicles in general. The EO system is a modular system so upgrades and changes are easy. You can easily add more EV charging points at home, to make sure you have enough charge points installed as your home charger needs change. Power-wise, this is a 7kW wall charger, which means it’s ideally suited for EV owners who want to charge in their own time and frequently overnight. Plug in an average electric saloon for the hours of darkness and it’ll be good to go again in the morning. No earth rod is needed if the charger is installed with a Garo earthing device; however, if this is unavailable, an earth rod should be used. Sadly, there’s no solar charging integration or colour choice. What’s more, the Ohme Home Pro is only offered on a tethered basis, and the open cabling means it looks a bit messy. While the Ohme Home requires an additional charge for a Garo earthing device, the Home Pro gets built-in grounding technology. The Ohme Home Pro isn’t as versatile as others, but its price (alongside that screen) makes it a worthy contender for those car brands that are supported. The Ohme Home Pro is our favourite charger with a display, with a unique feature for kWh price caps. The engineer may need to switch off your electricity supply to install your charger. So, it's a good idea to switch off any appliances or electronic equipment that may be affected, including any household alarms, before we start your installation. Worried that someone may plug into your new charger without your consent? You can add a RFID card reader so that only those who you give a tag to will be able to access your EO Mini Pro 3.
