About this deal

As soon as I saw the title, I immediately wondered what in the world that this book could possibly be about. And that's because our issues with food aren't really issues with food: they're issues with feelings and emotions, and what food has come to mean to us, whether that's comfort or love or guilt or reward or control or lack of it. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Creativity is about solving problems and finding ways to do things well and it is probably needed most in the least creative business. However, there is a disclaimer I’d like to add and that is: If you’re currently living with depression, anxiety or any other condition that makes it hard for you to seize the day, then If in Doubt Wash Your Hair may not be quite right for you. Perhaps if I was in Anya Hindmarchs friend circle I would have found this relatable or insightful, but it really just felt out of touch. After all, she thinks that children will be fine if they’ve honest, consistent, caring, understanding, listening and supportive parents. It felt like her book was written for me, she covers all topics from running a business to having a family, and how she balances it all (with help! Some of Anya's story could be pepped up with more actual real-life what she really went through narrative (a fair amount of the text is written in a remote 'remember to' or 'should do' manner, where, if she regaled me with the actual experiences I would be so much more interested).

Even though she covers mental health, daily routine and lifestyle, love and friendship, society, work and pretty much everything else in between - I personally enjoyed the parenting section and parts of the book perhaps the most. In these pages, Anya shares what she has learned during her busy and eclectic life as a mother, stepmother, entrepreneur and businesswoman, what she still worries about, and what advice she has received along the way. I feel that Anya has not only given out very valuable lessons and tips and tricks when it comes to being a parent who's also working but in general as well. Ring the bell when it goes well, crack open a nice bottle when you've achieved something wonderful, be sad but resilient when you haven't.

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. She has since grown it into an award-winning global brand known for it’s craftsmanship, creativity and sense of humour, including the hugely successful ‘I’m Not a Plastic Bag’ campaign.

If, like me, you work for the NHS have one child and no millions then you may wonder how relevant this book is to you. This is an autobiography/memoir (not sure) which also of course acts like a rather unusually helpful self-help book. This guide to life consists of the best advice she's received over the years (for context, she's in her early 50s and started her business as a teenager! There is little psychological underpinning for the tips in this book, and aside from a bit of NLP, she doesn’t align her advice to any particular theory. She shares her journey in life an in business, and you really feel like you get to know her and what drives her.The physical paperback edition only mentions the first part of the title (If In Doubt, Wash Your Hair) skipping the "A Manual for Life" found in the Kindle edition.

And also that I constantly worry how I don't mess up at parenting because I not only realise how important a role of a parent is + how the kind of relationship you build with them growing up is going to determine the kind of relationship they have with you when you are old. I'm far removed from the middle class white girl as you can get, however, I resonated with much of the content. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB.She’s frank that being in business is sometimes tough and the only way round it is to get through it. An advocate of British design and arts, Anya is NED of the British Fashion Council and Emeritus Trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts and the Design Museum. In this book, she shares her life experiences from the challenges of managing business, family and her own personal happiness at the same time.
