About this deal

In theory high performance ARM cores will work equally well as "high performance"*** x86, but getting router using such cores is hard or expensive (think getting a current M1/2 apple mac mini only to instal Linux and use it as router). Those IRQ affinity optimizations are not for a benchmark environment but for real world scenarios where ‘everything on cpu0’ pretty often creates an artificial bottleneck.

g. MTK MT7662) work in CD-ROM mode by default and need to be switched by usb_modeswitch, you can try to add usb_modeswitch configuration to the following directory: /etc/usb_modeswitch. com using the pseudonym tkaiser because while being a bit harsh and offending sometimes he is a brilliant mind and has very deep knowledge about low to lowest level software support of SBCs. based image over on PersonalBSD I may try just to see if it's any better, but setting everything up over and over gets tedious. For example I prefer to have the WiFi router before the WAN and some of my devices after the LAN, so the devices connected with before WAN don’t have access to the LAN devices via the bridge interface. There are also GPIOs, two 5-pin headers with one SPI, one I2C, status LED lights, an RTC battery input connector, and an optional 5V fan connector.Note this is winter here, so while the ambient temperature was 30°C for R2S test against around 24°C now.

FriendlyCore has some issues, and limited information in NanoPi R2S Wiki, so instead let’s try FriendlyWrt, and I flashed rk3399-sd-friendlywrt-5. There is still another issue, regarding cpufreq drivers, that seem to be not available in core180, but that for now is not as important as supply current issue because of missing serial console. Still, I don’t think any tests or even benchmarking makes any sense unless at least reasonable SMP/IRQ affinity settings and RPS is in place. The effects will ripple through time and space and improve the support of a lot of other devices now and in the future. Note that the Heisenberg uncertainty principle is about fundamental limits on accuracy of position and momentum.

Buildroot is a simple, efficient and easy-to-use tool to generate embedded Linux systems through cross-compilation. The balanced (high) speeds of the Pi 4 cores make a difference, but at the expense of slightly higher WAN latency when using a USB NIC and less convenient sysupgrades (due to missing kernel modules). You may want to double check the IRQ numbers in /proc/interrupts and then do a reboot and check again to make sure they stay the same. As a side note: Overclocking works well and can be achieved the same way as the boards mentioned before.Quote from: spikerguy on September 11, 2021, 12:43:05 am If you have 1gb internet than no arm device can handle it atm unless you use macchiatobin or clearfog as most sbc are low end cpu soc with limited IO like the gigabit Ethernet are not powerful enough to give you full performance. No throttling was detected, and for instance, 7-zip scores (~5800) are roughly the same as for RockPi 4C with the Rockchip RK3399 clocked a 1. I noticed I couldn't access the personalbsd site while this was broken so it was likely a glitch at the other side. Setting up a single board computer (SBC) or even a computer, for both regular or server use, takes time and skill. NanoPi R4S is a high-end Friendly Elec mini-router with edge-computing and dual Gbps Ethernet ports.
