My problem with phrases like that is that I usually can't take the character seriously when they say things like that, but Zane. Harley took it a bit further in this book, introducing a touch more of the taboo, but again, not in a way that is a turn off. This kinky action packed story follows Juniper as she sells her soul to end the cult that tortured her and wanted to sacrifice her to a God.The predictability is worst in this case than the last one, as we already knew how this book was going to end after reading about it in the first book, and seeing it through Rae's eyes. I understand that she has been through a lot and she has had so much thrown upon her and while there are glimpses of those scars and the damage that was done; besides her being afraid and then being angry, there’s nothing really in between her personality. I’m sure we’re going to get some battles, I feel like the Reapers are going to come back and I’m legit scared. Ever since Zane’s cameo in Her Soul to Take, I was excited for his story, and Juniper’s character is equally fascinating, especially her threatening Leon in the pervious book. After listening to Her soul to take, I was excited to hear Junipers and Zanes story, and it did not disappoint. Zane adds so much to this, too; he's never Juniper's "savior", he's just there to help where he can, and to be there for her. I feel almost dirty giving this book the 3 Star rating because I know that it's entirely me and my expectations that's the problem and not the book.

Zane was caring and understanding of her trauma, not what one would normally think about a 1,000 year old demon but it is what it is 😅 I really hope we get a scene with all 4 of them or even 6 of them? He was literally so in love with her, that he even pretended to be hurt just so she would be soft with him! I really wanted to love this one the way i did the first book, but sadly that just was not the case.
