About this deal

Craig Brown’s 2017 book is a very unusual biography of Princess Margaret – laugh-out-loud funny, scurrilous, and with interspersed sections of fiction. (He imagines alternate lives for her – a bit Sliding Doors). You would imagine The Family hated it, and it is occasionally uncomfortably intrusive. I hope all our pupils are as excited as I am to read about Her Majesty’s amazing life and the people and events that have shaped history during the last 70 years.” The book will also be on private sale from 23 June. As a former teacher, I immediately latched onto the possibilities for discussion of a various things that the book might promote. For instance, is being a queen as fairy tale wonderful as it sounds? What did she have to give up to fill the role of queen? What would you be willing to give up to reach your goals? How is someone prepared for such a role as they grow up? How would you feel knowing your every word, action, appearance, and even wardrobe (right down to the purse she carried) will be analyzed and reported on endlessly? How much freedom and power does a modern queen have anyway? How is it possible there have been more than one Queen Elizabeth in history? On a personal note, to instill interest in history, one might venture into creating family trees. Discovering you have royal bloodlines, however minute, is a way to make history personal and more interesting than a recitation of mere facts. And....so much more. If you're into all things Windsor but can't seem to get your little one on board with the obsession, you can always opt for classic children’s book titles the royal parents and their kiddos enjoy the most. Town & Countryand Southern Livingboth noted that the little royals’ favorites include The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, The Complete Tales of Winnie-The-Pooh by A.A. Milne, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney, and many more.

Being a queen wasn’t something Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, or Lilibet as her family called her, had dreamed about nor been prepared for. After all, she was born a princess, the granddaughter of King George. There were many others in line for the throne. Unlike her grandchildren today who are being raised in the shadow of what’s ahead, the first decade of Elizabeth’s life was carefree, with little understanding nor expectation of a royal destiny. This charming addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series focuses on Queen Elizabeth II, and it was prepared for publication prior to her death. The book shares about her childhood, her experiences during World War II, and her long reign. The illustrations are both cute and appropriately detailed, giving a sense of historic fashions and technology. A children's book about a real character should meet two criteria - be readable and without nonsense. This latest addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series fully fulfils it. Queen Elizabeth is written by the creator of this edition Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara and is accompanied by charming pictures by Melissa Lee Johnson.

Instead they asked in March to leave it to schools to request their copies. It has been described as having taken an Anglocentric line that did not give due regard to the history of the devolved countries of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Best of all, the book shares a strong message about the importance of serving others. Instead of glamorizing Queen Elizabeth's position, the book shows that she had to make a lot of personal sacrifices to be queen. Her reign wasn't about satisfying her personal desires or making a name for herself, but about doing what her people needed. A timeline of the extraordinary events in history, as well as the incredible achievements of people from the UK and Commonwealth countries that have taken place during The Queen's lifetime This empowering series offers inspiring messages to children of all ages, in a range of formats. The board books are told in simple sentences, perfect for reading aloud to babies and toddlers. The hardcover versions present expanded stories for beginning readers. Boxed gift sets allow you to collect a selection of the books by theme. Matching games and other fun learning tools provide even more ways to make the lives of these role models accessible to children . Princess Elizabeth never expected to be Queen. But when she was ten, her uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated and everything changed… Her father took over as King, but after 15 years on the throne, he died. So when she was just 25 years old, Elizabeth was crowned Queen and became the longest-serving monarch in British history.

I love this book and the entire series consisting of 110 wonderful books for readers ages 4-7. Queen Elizabeth ll was a much beloved queen whose reign lasted 70 years. She was Britain's longest-reigning monarch. She became queen when she was young and took her title and duties very seriously. She was not the typical queen or princess found in fairytales but had to give up many desires and personal aspirations to serve her subjects. She pledged to dedicate her whole life, however long it would be, for the good of others and she faithfully fulfilled that vow.

The Queen Who Chose To Serve

The book was originally intended to be in schools within the next few weeks, ahead of the jubilee weekend next month, and was to have been available in the major regional languages, including Gaelic and Welsh. On the request of the Scottish and Welsh Governments, schools in Scotland and Wales will be asked to opt-in to receive copies of the book, which will then be delivered in late September. In this book from the critically acclaimed Little People, BIG DREAMS series, discover the life of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch of modern times.
