About this deal

Although most Haribo use pork or beef gelatine, a few of them use starch instead - but their classic Starmix, Tangfastics or Cola Bottles are strictly for meat eaters. Add the red cake and repeat the buttercream filling, then top with the final blue cake.

For this collaboration, I have teamed up with the lovely team at HARIBO for their #HARIBOEaster campaign. As let’s be honest, this Easter, it’s not going to be ‘normal’ is it? {for want of a better word} But, as parents we still need to find a way to bring our children happiness and fun during these very weird times. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I love an Easter egg hunt and I love Haribo – so the two make a pretty good team to bring a smile to a child’s {or adults!} face! Don’t you think?Unfortunately, vegans are excluded from eating the gummy treats as they use beeswax as a glazing agent. Push a long bamboo skewer into the top of the cake and then slot the Starmix covered straw over the top of it. The skewer should be pushed well into the cake so that it can securely hold the straw. Spread the remaining buttercream over the cake for the final layer. As before, spin the cake slowly and use a large cake scraper to even out the top and sides.

Place the butter and caster sugar in a large bowl and whisk together until well combined and fluffy. The following table shows which Haribo sweets are vegan and vegetarian in the UK. Please note that ingredients may vary by country. Haribo sweets Divide the cake mixture into 3 and split between 2 bowls – ⅔ in one and ⅓ in another. Using the gel food colourings, colour the larger portion blue and the smaller portion red. Divide the coloured cake mixture between the prepared tins, 2 blue, one red. I’ve always wanted to try making an anti-gravity cake, or pour cake as they are also known, but at first glance it seemed quite a challenge. I did my research and found anti-gravity cake kits available online, but they were expensive, and I didn’t want to buy yet another kitchen gadget that might only be used once or twice. This was a really fun Easter egg hunt to create – and it was 100% worth it because my kids loved it! It took them longer to finish than the usual dash around finding all of the eggs madness. But they really did enjoy it and it made me so happy watching them find the clues, figure them out and then dashing off to find the next one. The laughs of them as they ran about the house was so much fun.Suggested read: Is food that ‘may contain milk’ vegan? Which Haribo sweets are vegan and vegetarian? Vegetarian Haribo is labelled as vegetarian, but no Haribo sweets are labelled as vegan. This is because there is a risk of cross-contamination within the factories. Haribo may contain traces of animal ingredients, including milk.

Oh, how the times have changed lately, eh!? I’m not going to mention the ‘v’ word or anything like that around here because none of us needs to hear any more about it, do we? So, I have created a super fun and ‘egg’stra special Easter egg hunt idea that will bring joy & happiness to kids all over the world! A bold statement, I know! But it’s true. To find out which vegetarian Haribo are also suitable for vegans, the general rule is that if the sweets are shiny, they are glazed with beeswax. If they are covered in sugar, then they are vegan. HARIBO has hatched a chirpy range of treats, including a tasty new edition, which is sure to put a spring in everyone’s step this Easter! Whilst the cakes are cooling, prepare the buttercream icing. Whisk the butter until soft and fluffy. Add the icing sugar, a little at a time, whisking as you go until completely combined. Add the vanilla extract and whisk again until combined.

Before you go!

I would love to hear what YOU are planning for Easter this year to make it fun and engaging for our kids {keeping within the current government guidelines, of course!}. Let me know in the comments below or if you’re going with my fun QR code idea above! Now the fun part, hide your eggs! I numbered all of the clues {and the eggs} so I didn’t get confused {this happens a lot with me!} and helps when you’re hiding them all. And there you have it. A really fun twist on an Easter egg hunt tradition. Perfect for the more tech-minded kids and the older kids in the family too. Using a palate knife, spread the buttercream that you set aside for the crumb coating all over the cake. Spinning the cake slowly, use a large cake scraper to even out the top and sides of the cake.
