Things ramped up more in March and April as people started traveling more for Spring Break and Easter. The parks were incredibly busy during those months and even with the reduced capacity it still felt like the parks were full. The weather can turn a park from heavy crowds to empty in a matter of days. Whenever there are hurricanes in Disney World, the parks turn into a ghost town for days before and after the storm hits. You can’t predict the weather and you have to go with the flow. Do I want to visit during special times, like during one of the Epcot Festivals such as the food and wine festival or flower festival? Guests who wish to utilize shorter ride queues (Lightning Lanes) will need to pay for the Disney Genie+ service. It essentially functions the same way the FastPass+ system used to work. Liberty Belle Riverboat The Liberty Belle Riverboat is closing for refurbishment from August 22nd through September 1st. Attractions included in Individual Lightning Lane selections on the other hand let you skip the line for a one-time fee and not an all-day pass. Thanksgiving will top off a very crowded month at Walt Disney World and will definitely be more visitors than locals in the parks. This will set up how Walt Disney World will close the rest of 2023. Most parents are only able to bring their kids during the holidays or summer break period when they don’t have to take them out of school and it’s either 1. Go when crowds are heavy or 2. Don’t go to Disney World at all. Early Theme Park Entry allows guests who are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, to enter the parks 30 minutes before the general public each and every morning. An individual Lightning Lane Pass allows a guest to use the Lightning Lane entrance at one of Disney World’s highest-demand attractions. Lightning Lane Passes are available on a pay-per-ride basis. Those staying at a Disney World property can make their first reservation starting at 7 AM on the day of the visit, or once the park opens if they are staying off-property.

January, February, August, and September (excluding holiday weeks) are historically the least crowded. If you can avoid the busy holiday weekends, this time of year typically sees some of the lowest crowds. Yes, guests still have to use Disney’s new Park Pass system to make reservations for the parks and the number is limited each day (at least until 2024), but even that is no longer an issue unless you wait until the last minute or are trying to go on the day of a special event. October 11-15 – Columbus Day/Indigenous People’s Day and school fall breaks all occur here. Crowds will reflect it. Disneyland’s two theme parks do tend to be more crowded during the summer months (June, July, August), and that can mean longer rides for rides, food, and even to speak with Guest Relations. However, the parks extend their hours every day from late May until early September. You can also expect the theme park to operate with longer hours during holiday periods and school breaks, as well as host more shows, parades, and fireworks. So there are plenty of trade-offs to consider when deciding when you should visit Disneyland; it just depends on your priorities.

In addition to all of those, keep in mind that the weekends are almost always busier than the weekdays, with mid-week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) being less crowded than Mondays and Fridays. What month at Disney World is the BEST?
