About this deal

Flip the phone over and you’ll find a single 32MP hole-punch camera centrally embedded within the display. It’s great for selfies and video calls, but I’d leave most of the photography to those impressive rear lenses.

The Vivo X90 Pro+ is the star of the show and it’s equipped with a 6.78-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1440x3200 (WQHD+), a refresh rate of 120 Hz, peak brightness of 1800 cd/m², 8000000:1 contrast ratio, dual edge display, and HDR10+. It also has stereo speakers, Hi-Res audio, and a faux leather finish. The usable surface is 89.3%. There’s no denying the Vivo X90 Pro’s main camera takes a stunning photo, with a natural depth of field that no portrait mode comes close to matching. It’s a very capable phone elsewhere, too, with great battery life, rapid charging and high-end performance. The latest device coming out of the vivo and ZEISS Global Imaging Partnership, which has been in the works for nearly three years, brings forward a slew of improvements, to offer an outstanding photography and videography experience. This includes a newly developed triple main camera setup, which significantly increases light sensitivity, natural color processing and image stabilisation, for an intuitive camera experience, inviting both professionals and newbies alike to capture outstanding moments. There's barely any difference overall then, although the two are slightly different ratios. It's a 20:9 aspect for the Vivo, a 19.3:9 one for the Samsung. That's why the Vivo is about half a millimetre wider, the Samsung about three millimetres taller by comparison. Results aren’t always quite as crisp as those from the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but with that phone boasting a whopping 200MP lens, it’s not too much of a surprise. My only real complaint is that 2x zoom is a little bit limited compared to other 2023 flagships like the Galaxy S23’s 3.5x zoom and the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 10x zoom. You’ve got the option of digital zoom but with it comes a sacrifice to overall quality.

Vivo has also included support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. You can technically charge at up to 50W speeds wirelessly, but only with Vivo’s official accessory, which is sold separately – though it will work fine at slower speeds on regular Qi chargers. As noted above, the Samsung Galaxy S23 line will probably use this chipset, and the OnePlus 11 definitely will, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The X90 Pro brings the ZEISS Natural Color 2.0 feature; This has been further calibrated by vivo and ZEISS, to present colors with more authenticity and accuracy, bringing captured images closer to what is seen with the naked eye. It’s also pretty rapid when it comes to recharging with 120W dual-cell flash charging that I’ve found can provide 50% charge in just 11 minutes, with a full 100% charge in 28 minutes. It's here that I also must mention Samsung's use of S Pen stylus, which is stowed into the S23 Ultra's body, and can be pretty transformative a way to work if you like the pen. It's software is really adept at making the most out of it too, but personally I don't have a huge amount of use for it. If you do then you'll love it though. The new X90 Pro supports 120W Dual-Cell FlashCharge which, combined with an equivalent 4870 mAh large battery, improves both the charging speed and the battery life. The X90 Pro also supports the well-known 50W Wireless FlashCharge, introduced with last year's X80 Pro.
