Latecomers may not be permitted. Gallery Seats are not suitable for those who have difficulties climbing stairs are Vertigo sufferers. Row A in the Gallery has narrow access to seats. Renowned theatre director Lucy Bailey ( Ghosts, The Graduate) is at the helm of this production of the on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller , and it has already been seen by almost 300,000 people. This success is due in part to its unique setting: the council chamber at County Hall, which lends a real sense of authenticity to Christie’s famous courtroom drama. Is there something supernaturally sinister about this home or is the evil a little more human in nature?

Leonard Vole is arrested for the murder of Emily French, a wealthy older woman. The evidence seems overwhelmingly damning, which usually means he didn’t do it. The wife of the accuses, Romaine, takes the stand in his defense. Of course I can’t reveal what happens, but you will not be surprised it was adapted for the stage and film. The Witness for the Prosecution" is a short story and play by British author Agatha Christie. The story was initially published as "Traitor's Hands" in Flynn's, a weekly pulp magazine, in the edition of 31 January 1925. [1]

I loved this mystery! I liked that it is mostly told from the perspective of the lawyers for the defense as they try to find out what really happened and find evidence to prove Leonard's innocence. The plot kept surprising me around every turn, and there are not one but three plot twists at the end! It was completely fascinating. The Second Gong was originally published in 1932 in The Ladies Home Journal and added into some of Christie's short story collections. However, he doesn't tell anyone that he's actually felt that same warning sign before he came there tonight. According to her autobiography, Witness for the Prosecution was one of Agatha Christie’s favourites of all her works, stating: “One night at the theatre stands out in my memory especially; the first night of Witness [for the Prosecution]. I can safely say that that was the only first night I have enjoyed… It was one of my plays that I like best myself.” We'd like to think that the Witness for the Prosecution West End production would be loved by Christie too. If you're a Christie fan you're probably going to look at this and think, didn't I already read this story?

I know I seem to say that about all of these collections, but this one has quite a few stories in it that you don't get to read very often. I would personally love to own this book! Based in a unique court room setting inside London’s County Hall, Agatha Christie’s Witness For The Prosecution is a landmark production of a gripping story of justice, passion and betrayal. Majestic foyer and bar areas and a spacious auditorium offer excellent ventilation and space for audiences to relax and enjoy this classic thriller. A film version of Witness for the Prosecution premiered in 1957 (and reached general release in early 1958), with Tyrone Power as Leonard Vole, Marlene Dietrich as Christine Vole and Charles Laughton as Sir Wilfrid Robarts Q.C. [1] The film was adapted by Larry Marcus, Harry Kurnitz and the film's director, Billy Wilder. The play opened on Broadway on December 16, 1954. [3] As I mentioned, the 1957 adaptation starring Marlene Dietrich is absolutely wonderful. If you love this play, you will love the movie.
