Harry also recounts another tense meeting with Charles and William following the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in April 2021, where Charles stated "Please, boys. Don't make my final years a misery." [12] Harry describes William as "my dear brother, my archnemesis", before pointing out how for the first time he noticed his "alarming" baldness and how his resemblance to his mother was fading. [51] Harry mentions that during a walk with his father and brother, William wondered why he had not come to them when having issues within the institution, before adding that he should take up his complaints about the Megxit agreement "with Granny". [52] Harry mentions that he was disgusted by his brother's response, but William lunged, and told him he loved him and "I swear to you now on Mummy's life that I just want you to be happy." [52] Harry stated in the book that he did not believe what his brother said. [52]

Retrieved 5 January 2023. Royal photographer Arthur Edwards said: "It's better than the book that Harry wrote because I didn't enjoy that, seeing the way he rubbished some of the people that work hard for this country. I thought that was outrageous.

a b Shaffi, Sarah (17 January 2023). "Prince Harry's Spare is fastest-selling nonfiction book since UK records began". The Guardian. Archived from the original on 17 January 2023 . Retrieved 17 January 2023. Even their suffering is written as a misfortune to Harry. The detail of what those women have lost, what cost they have paid, and their (potentially? the book is unclear) continued harassment is lost to the reader, as it simply has not been included beyond what serves the author. When veteran royal reporter Robert Jobson pointed out the Duke's book made enormous sales, Edwards replied: "Yes, I know but we've got to hope Robert. Fingers crossed." In January 2023 and ahead of the release of Spare, Harry's popularity in the UK fell even further according to a survey by YouGov, with almost two-thirds of the participants having a negative view of him. This was a further decline from the results in May 2022 when roughly half the population viewed him negatively. [110] Now, only a quarter of those surveyed viewed him in a positive light. [110] In another poll, 68 per cent of respondents held a negative view of Harry compared to 21 per cent who had a favourable opinion. Among people aged over 65 he and his wife Meghan were the least popular royals. [111] One in five people said they believed Harry's stated motivation for releasing the book, but nearly twice as many (41 per cent) believed he was trying to make money. [112] Sales [ edit ]

SHARE Prince Harry’s memoir sparks a parody — and a third of the U.K. doesn’t want him at the coronation CLOSE Nardino, Meredith (5 January 2023). Classic! Some of the lines were absolutely incredible, the only reason I'm giving it 5 stars is due to it not meeting the standards of laughing out loud. 60% is slightly boring and the 40% is perhaps "put a smile on your face" entertaining. Though contextual knowledge is required before reading it. Good one. Rayner, Gordon; Ward, Victoria (6 January 2023). "Prince Harry's Royal family ambushes 'harmed Queen's health' ". The Telegraph. Archived from the original on 6 January 2023 . Retrieved 7 January 2023. Heartfelt and vulnerable, he shares stories from his childhood, about his mother, about life as a Royal, his military career and charitable work, meeting and falling in love with Meghan and their struggles being part of the Family and ultimately deciding to leave for their own safety and sanity.

But in the end, it's a little hard to feel sorry for him. There's just too much airing of dirty laundry, too much "woe is me" as he throws every member of his family under the bus. It's undignified. Time after time he exhibits extraordinarily poor judgement. Nazi costumes? Strip pool? Years of substance abuse (about which he's very candid, if that's what you want to read about). And he's so out of touch with reality. a b Mance, Henry (10 January 2023). "Spare by Prince Harry — complain and explain". Financial Times. Archived from the original on 11 January 2023 .
