About this deal

Energy usage breakdowns clearly show which habits and activities, such as laundry or appliances that are always left on, are using the most energy in the home. I hope Chameleon Technology see this post and reach out to me about my experiences with their platforms - if they want to do that, my PM’s are open. Hildebrand are planning to launch a SMETS2 version within the next few months and will be happy to notify you when it's available if you contact them here. The short version is that from my hour or two of using the ivie Bud, it was ultimately no different to the IHD6 other than having a built-in temperature sensor and no battery.

Other forum members and the community moderators have also contributed feedback and their own thoughts as well. You’re supposed to create an account to use this device and it then joins your Home Area Network and pairs to the meters by itself afterwards - this is possible because of Chameleon being a DCC Other User, so your supplier doesn’t need to get involved.

You set the unit up in range of your smart meter and it then sends usage data to the Bright app on a real-time basis. It’s also important for me to mention that this review is written completely independently of OVO and Chameleon in my personal capacity as a forum volunteer.

The ivie Bud was launched early this year as part of Chameleon’s replacement In-Home Display (IHD) service in support of the continuing smart meter rollout. Your smart metering system is a complex system of several parts, including the smart meter, the communications hub and the In-Home Display. The IHD still needs a link to the meters to retrieve the data first, so CADs do not provide an alternative solution where the meters and IHD are separated by a large distance. I’ve occasionally exported usage data (gas and elec separately) from another third party and imported into influx, but that’s not automated so takes a lot of time and effort each time. This innovative device enables you to control multiple radiators, and zones, all of which can be managed via an app. The Smart Meter itself can provide a lot of data but it requires a good knowledge of what buttons to push, the sequence to push them in and how many times. Your supplier may also be willing to send a replacement for a small fee so it’s worth asking anyway. She said they were getting all the correct information at their end and I know none of this will ultimately affect my bill but it would be good to have a smart meter / IHD that I could believe.

But I agree that for marketing, it’s better to have a production already packaged to sell to more people. By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar,sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Not only can that slight gust of wind creeping in give us a chill, and a stiff neck at times, but it also means we are letting out heat, which means we have to keep our heating on for longer to counter the draught. I’m afraid I can’t risk having users break their stuff and complaining about not being able to fix it because they don't know what they just did. Because the CAD features aren’t active, they never really talk to anyone and I’ve verified this using tcpdump in my UniFi Dream Machine, Exploud.

It also details the energy output and temperature, so you can be mindful of how hot your house is - and whether you really need the heating on. This is where CADs come in as they use the IHD data and therefore you can see the data more quickly. Chameleon Technology today launches the ivie a pp , the free energy-saving app that gives users total control over their home energy. You can no longer get those devices from Onzo either because they’re no longer manufactured - and quality issues with the rechargeable batteries you probably don’t want to keep using them anyway. Most IHDs come with a 12 month warranty, which covers faults with the device itself - but DOES NOT cover accidental damage, loss or theft.
